Corpus Christi, Texas - Angel M. Gonzalez passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the young age of 98, surrounded by his loving family. Angel was truly an angel within his community, no matter where he was. His unbreakable faith gave him the strength and compassion to help and pray for people of all walks of life without judgment. People frequently asked to be added to his long daily prayer list, which had many wonderful outcomes. Beyond prayers, he led through action and a purpose-driven life, from being a champion for social justice to being an advisor to many. Throughout the years, he helped those around him start businesses, obtain legal status and citizenship, purchase homes, and pursue a higher education across borders. He always put God, family, love, and helping others first.
Angel was full of life until the very end. Even this year, he still traveled to his beloved Inchamacuaro, Guanajuato, the town where he met his beautiful wife. He cooked, drove, walked, loved a good party and any excuse for a bar-b-que and good music. Angel was born in and grew up in Palito Blanco, Texas a town he left to join the Army and the World War II effort, taking him on multiple duties to the Philippines and Japan. Upon his return, he started working at Corn Products, where he retired as a foreman after 31 years. Thereafter, he embarked on various successful entrepreneurial efforts teaching his sons life-long lessons. Angel was a loving husband, a father of four boys, father-in-law to four lovely ladies, a grandfather to eleven, a great-grandfather to seven, and a great-great grandfather of one. He was a parishioner at Holy Family Catholic Church across eight different decades. Preceded in death by his wife, Audelia Flores Gonzalez; parents: Alejandro and Martina Gonzalez; three sisters: Maria Falcon, Martina Barrera, and Margarita Romano; four brothers: Alejandro Gonzalez, Abelardo Gonzalez, Agapito Gonzalez, and Abel Gonzalez. Survivors include his sister Minerva Mosley, four sons: Robert, Angel Jr, Jose Luis and Rene; daughters-in-laws: Jeanne, Norma, Esperanza, and Frances; his eleven grandchildren: Rebekah, Kailah, Anna, David, Alexzandra, Jeanette, Veronica, Michael, Adalberto, Adrian, and Natalie; seven great-grandchildren: Peter, Bella, Joe, Raymond, Vivian, Andrew, Matthew; one great- great granddaughter Raelynn; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins and many very close friends he called family. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home-Alice. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Mission Church -Palito Blanco. Burial to follow at the Gonzalez Cemetery -Palito Blanco. Mauro P.
