Amalia Trigo Trejo sadly left our world on July 25, 2024, at the age of 95. Amalia, “Mama” was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her most. Amalia will always be remembered as a matriarch of the Taconazo Ranch. She and her husband, the late, Teodoro (Lolo) Trejo built their family business, El Taconazo, located in the Armagoso community. El Taconazo was a gathering place for families to enjoy a day and night of horse racing, rodeos and dances. After the passing of her husband, Amalia continued to thrive in helping to raise and nurture many of her grandchildren while following the horse racing careers of her sons. Throughout Amalia’s long life, she developed a love for country music, old country music, collecting 8 tracks, albums and CD’s, watching and collecting western movies and knowing every actor on screen. She also enjoyed the outdoors. She was never a stranger to hard work. She enjoyed gardening, especially collecting all sorts of succulents. Even in her 90’s you could find her outside watering and moving her plants around. Mama’s love was most evident well after she had raised her family. Her beloved cat, Chila, received enduring love. Chila was like her own. Amalia will always be remembered by family and friends as a lady of Grace, Admiration, Love, Respect, Strength, Faith and Triumph. She was kind to all, and she gave of herself to those who needed her most. Amalia was poised with beauty, charm, and intelligence. Her smile was radiant, and her sense of fashion was always on point. Amalia’s legacy will be missed but always remembered fondly by her family, friends and community.

Tia you will be truly missed, your love and always making us laugh. We were blessed that you came to visit us in New mexico, my grandma and the whole family were so excited you were here. My memory I love the most was your pet javelin I was afraid of him. I am very grateful aunt Sylvia let me video chat with you and say goodbye. I will always love and miss you.

We are sad to hear of Big Grandma's passing and we treasure the time we spent with her. She was a special woman - so interesting and kind. We loved her stories and watching Westerns with her.

Amelia knew and shared much ancestor information, as she knew about our related families and their children. I truly appreciated all that she shared, as her ancestor, Jose Maria Valerio, and my gr grandmother, Antonia,Valerio. were sibliings..Rest in peace, Amelia.
