Alice, Texas - Alicia V. Rodriguez peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on Monday, May 26, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on August 16, 1951, to Manuel and Aurora Valdez in Carson City, Michigan, Alicia was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and loyal friend. Alicia was known for her warm heart and unwavering kindness. She worked for many years at the H-E-B pharmacy, where her dedication and friendly nature left a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike. As a grandmother, she took pride in spoiling her grandkids—with sweets, surprises, or her endless, unconditional love. Her joyful presence lit up every room, especially at family gatherings where her laughter, storytelling, and playful spirit were always the highlight.
Alicia had a fierce love for life’s simple pleasures like bingo nights, casino trips, and the occasional scratch-off ticket. But her greatest treasure was the time she spent with her family. Alicia taught us to celebrate small wins, laugh often, and always keep a little luck in our pockets. Her memory will live on in every shared smile, every family gathering, and every lucky charm. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Aurora Valdez; her siblings, Consuelo Resendez, Beatrice Martinez, Luz Mata, Francisca Mata, and Aurora “Vore” Garza; her niece, Monique Garcia; nephew, Troy Mata; and niece, Veronica Clendenen. Alicia is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Jose L. Rodriguez; her children, Delicia Ann Torrez, Marivel Rodriguez (Wesley Baldwin), and Jose M. Rodriguez; and her grandchildren, Kristopher Rodriguez (raised as a son), Jake (Malerie Rae) Torrez, and Mallory (Ruben Cantu) Torrez. She is also survived by her siblings, Esperanza “Hope” Aguirre, Elena (Robert) Johnson, Tina (Woody) Hernandez, and Lupita (Enrique) Flores; her brothers-in-law, Speedy Martinez and Eddie Mata; and many treasured nieces and nephews. Active Pallbearers: Little Bobby Aguirre, Joe Guerrero, Robert Johnson, Robert Lee Johnson, Billy Garza, and Ernesto Flores. Honorary Pallbearers: Speedy Martinez and Enrique Flores. Visitation will begin on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in Alice, Texas with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice. Want to offer my condolences for the passing of a wonderful supportive lady. I knew of her thru my friendship with her Husband at Habitat for Humanity.
