Benavides, Tx - Juan Ramon "J. R." Resendez, 66 years old passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in a Corpus Christi hospital after a long illness. Sgt. Juan Ramon "J.R." Resendez, was a patrol and traffic officer and progressed through the ranks to Sergeant and retired with over 29 years of service. During his tenure he served as a K9 officer with his partner Buddy and also served as the Warrant Officer and Evidence Sergeant before retirement. Sgt J. R. Resendez was recognized as one of the toughest Sergeants by the officers who had the honor of working alongside him. He was preceded in death by his parents Ramon Pena Resendez and Juanita Amaya Resendez, one son Benjamin Resendez and his father-in-law Andres "Chito" Hernandez. He is survived by his wife of 26 years of marriage Norma H. Resendez, one son John Cody Resendez, two daughters Vanessa Ann (Andrew) Sanchez and Veronica M. (James) Harris, his mother-in-law Aurora G. "Lola" Hernandez, one brother Calixtro Resendez, one brother-in-law Rene "Rhino" Hernandez, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 1p.m. till 2 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego. Prayer Service will be officiated by Pastor Max Palacios that will be held at 2 p.m. the same day. All services will conclude after Prayer Service. Mauro P. Corpus Christi-Velma Iris Molina, 58 years of age passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018 in Corpus Christi after a short illness. She was a graduate of W.B. Ray High School Class of 1979. Velma worked for Goodwill Industries for many years. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father Teofilo Molina, Jr. She is survived by her two sons, Matthew Molina and Mark (Sarah) Molina, one daughter, Leticia Almaguer, her mother, Lydia P. Juan Manuel Abrigo was born to Rosalio and Elia R. Abrigo on March 1, 1952. Juan was a graduate of Alice High School Class of 1971 and a graduate of Texas A&I University of Kingsville, Texas. He was a school teacher for Pecos ISD where he retired after 30 years of teaching. His enjoyment of life was traveling which he traveled the world. Juan also loved the company of his family and his passion were his cats. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
