Concepcion- Roberto C. Cantu 83 years of age passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 in a Kingsville hospital after a long illness. He was a United States Veteran having served in the U.S. Army stationed in Korea. He was a retired farmer and rancher in the Duval County area. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Anita C. Cantu, four brothers, Adan, Antonio, Jr., Leonel, Sr., and Hector Cantu, two sisters, Eva Canales and Estella Canales. Survived by his wife of 56 years of marriage, Josefa S. Cantu, Concepcion, Texas, one son, Roberto (Loretta) Cantu, Jr., Kingsville, Texas, one daughter, Rosa Anna Williams, San Antonio, Texas, one sister, Olivia Saenz, Realitos, Texas, two granddaughters, Samantha Nicole Cantu, Lubbock, Texas and Adriana Renee Williams, San Antonio, Texas numerous nieces and nephews. Orange Grove, Texas: Maria G. Vasquez 93 years old passed away on September 23, 2017 at her daughter's residence in Orange Grove, Texas after a long illness. Maria was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, embroidering, arts, crafts, cooking and baking. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and will sadly be missed by her family and friends. She was also a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Crucillistas at St. Peters Catholic Church in Ben Bolt. She is preceded in death by her husband Pedro Vasquez Jr., parents Esiquio Guerrero and Maria De La Luz Sepulveda, 2 brothers Sabino Guerrero and Juan Guerrero, her granddaughter Belinda Gutierrez. She is survived by her son Pedro Humberto Vasquez of Alice, one daughter Janie (Regino) Flores of Orange Grove, one brother Lupe Guerrero of Tamaulipas, Mexico, seven grandchildren, Nora Nunez, Cynthia Flores Rohrman and Daniel Flores all of Orange Grove, Lupe (Tameka) Nunez, Jr. of Garden Ridge, Javier Vasquez, Aaron Vasquez and John Michael Vasquez of Alice, 13 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. La Parrita, Texas: Leobardo “Leo” Rodriguez, age 88 of La Parrita passed away on Saturday September 16, 2017 at his home with his wife Connie by his side. He was born July 24, 1929 at the Shaeffer Ranch near La Parrita to Benino and Tomasa Rodriguez. Leo was as a rancher, farmer, and oilfield worker. He worked as a tool pusher for Murlynson Drilling Company for 29 years. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. Leo was known for teaching his oilfield knowledge and skills to his brothers, nephews and friends. He worked in West Texas and New Mexico for many years. He loved traveling with his wife and family. Leo’s pride and joy were his family, his ranch, his cattle and his dog Patrick. He moved to Dallas residing there for 20 years returning home 3 years ago after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s He will forever be remembered as the hard working man that he was. He was known for wheeling and dealing, selling something before he even paid for it and always making a profit. His legacy will be Leo’s Country Store, his famous burgers and the many memories he left behind. Leo is preceded in death by his parents Benino and Tomasa Rodriguez, his first wife Audelia Perez Rodriguez, his brothers Ismael Rodriguez, Isnael Rodriguez, Ruben Rodriguez, and Benino Rodriguez Jr., his sisters Ofelia Torres, Hortencia Garcia, and his step-son John Edward Gutierrez. Benavides, Texas - Otila Chapa Pena, 80 years old passed Thursday, August 31, 2017 in a San Antonio hospital. She was a graduate of BISD and of Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas. She was retired from the Department of Human Services. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America from Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church in Benavides and also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Otila was a loving daughter, mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, Atanacio and Susana S. Chapa and her husband, Merardo Pena. She is survived by her son, Merardo Pena of Benavides, one brother, Eliseo A. (Nelda M.) Chapa of McAllen, two granddaughters, Susana Pena of San Antonio, Sara Pena of Victoria and numerous great-grandchildren.
